President Obama: No Boots On Ground In Syria

President Obama said today that any U.S response to Syria’s chemical attack would not involve sending in U.S. Troops.

Obama said this kind of attack threatens our national security and that the world has an obligation.  The president said this morning that the U.S. is looking at a “wide range of options”.

He said he has not made a final decision on what kind of action he is going to take. Obama has consulted with allies, Congress and the U.S. Military.

The President Says we are not looking at a long term campaign, but that he wants Syria to know that we care.  Obama said he will continue to consult with Congress and they will be offering a classified briefing to congress.

President Obama said “when over a thousand people are killed including hundreds of innocent children through the use of a weapon that 99% of humanity says should not be used even in war and there is no action, we’re sending a signal that the international norm doesn’t mean much and that is a danger to our national security.”

The President said he will continue to keep the American people informed.
